Autism Assessment & Remediation

At Maive Brain, we believe that the brain does not function in isolation. For children on the autism spectrum, the path to effective remediation begins with understanding the biological environment that supports the brain.

Our comprehensive assessment process is designed to uncover the “why” behind behavioral and cognitive challenges. By identifying underlying physiological stressors, we can move beyond generalized support to create a specialized, data-driven plan that targets the root causes of a child’s symptoms.

Our Core Assessments

We conduct these specific tests to build a 360-degree profile of your child’s internal health:

What to expect:

1. Stool MCS (Microscopy, Culture, and Sensitivity)

What it is: A detailed analysis of the gut's microbial environment. Why we conduct it: There is a profound link between the gut and the brain (the gut-brain axis). Many autistic children struggle with dysbiosis—an imbalance of "good" vs. "bad" bacteria—or low-grade fungal overgrowths.
The Impact: These imbalances can produce toxins that cross the blood-brain barrier, affecting mood, focus, and sensory processing.
Remediation: By identifying specific pathogens or deficiencies, we can tailor probiotic and dietary interventions to "clear the fog" and improve neurological function.

2. ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate)

What it is:A blood test that detects non-specific inflammatory activity in the body. Why we conduct it: Chronic, low-level inflammation is frequently observed in children with ASD. If the body is in a constant state of "alarm" due to inflammation, the brain cannot prioritize learning or social development.
The Impact: High ESR levels often correlate with increased irritability, sleep disturbances, and heightened sensory sensitivities.
Remediation: Lowering systemic inflammation through targeted protocols allows the nervous system to shift from a "fight or flight" state into a "rest and digest" state, making behavioral therapies far more effective.

3. EUCR (Electrolytes, Urea, and Creatinine)

What it is:A panel that evaluates kidney function and metabolic balance. Why we conduct it: This test ensures that the body's filtration system and cellular hydration levels are optimal.
The Impact: Imbalances in electrolytes (like sodium or potassium) can interfere with how neurons fire in the brain. Proper urea and creatinine levels ensure the body is successfully clearing out metabolic waste products.
Remediation: We use this data to ensure the child’s internal chemistry is stable enough to support the metabolic demands of brain development and intensive remediation.

4. Nutritional Test

What it is:A deep dive into vitamin, mineral, and amino acid levels. Why we conduct it: Autistic children often have highly selective diets or "picky eating" habits, leading to hidden "cellular hunger."
The Impact: Deficiencies in nutrients like Zinc, Magnesium, B12, or Omega-3s can directly impair speech, motor skills, and emotional regulation.
Remediation: Instead of "guessing" which supplements to use, we use these results to provide exactly what the child’s brain is starving for, fueling the neuroplasticity needed for growth.

Why This Process is Necessary

A “one-size-fits-all” approach rarely works for autism because the triggers for one child may be entirely different for another. This diagnostic process is vital for two reasons:

1. Removing the Biological "Roadblocks": You cannot build a house on a shaky foundation. If a child is in physical discomfort or suffering from nutrient depletion, behavioral therapy alone can only go so far. These assessments help us remove the physiological barriers so the child is ready to learn.

2. Precision Remediation: Our specialized plans are not based on observation alone; they are based on biochemical evidence. This precision reduces the "trial and error" period for parents, leading to faster improvements in communication, social interaction, and daily living skills.

To the parents who feel like they are constantly navigating a storm: we see you. We know the exhaustion of the sleepless nights, the heartache of the “missed” connections, and the overwhelming weight of the “what ifs.” At Maive Brain, you are not just another case file; you are a family in search of hope, and we are here to walk this path with you.

Autism is often described by its outward behaviors, but we believe those behaviors are simply the brain’s way of shouting that the “hardware” underneath is struggling. We don’t just want to manage symptoms; we want to help your child thrive by addressing the root causes.

Understanding Autism: Beyond the Label

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by challenges in social interaction, communication, and repetitive patterns of behavior. However, neurobiologically, it is often a state of High Neurological Noise—where the brain is receiving too much information and lacks the “filters” or “expressways” to process it efficiently.

Common Signs & Symptoms

Social Communication

Difficulty with eye contact, reading social cues, or maintaining "back-and-forth" conversation.

Sensory Processing

Hyper-sensitivity (overwhelmed by loud noises/textures) or hypo-sensitivity (seeking intense physical input).

Motor & Behavior

Repetitive movements (stimming), intense focus on specific interests, and a need for strict routine.

Internal Struggles

Difficulty with sleep, chronic digestive issues (the gut-brain connection), and high levels of internal anxiety.

The Maive Brain "Root Cause" Protocol

We use a sophisticated, multi-layered approach to rebuild the brain from the ground up. This isn’t a “quick fix” —it is a neurological renovation.

1. Integrating Retained Reflexes

Many children with autism are “locked” in primitive survival modes because their Primitive Reflexes (like the Moro or ATNR) never integrated.

The Impact: A child with a retained Moro reflex is in a constant state of “fight or flight.”

Our Approach: We use targeted physical movements to “fold” these reflexes into the brain, calming the nervous system and opening the door for higher-level learning.

2. Hemispheric Rebalancing

Autism is often characterized by a “functional disconnection” —where the two halves of the brain aren’t communicating effectively. Usually, the Right Hemisphere (responsible for social cues and big-picture thinking) is underactive. We use specialized visual and auditory stimuli to “wake up” the weaker side and bring the brain into harmony.

3. Advanced Neuromodulation (rTMS & PBM)

We utilize cutting-edge technologies that are clinically proven to enhance neuroplasticity:

• rTMS (Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation): Uses gentle magnetic pulses to  stimulate specific brain regions, improving focus and reducing repetitive behaviors.

• Photobiomodulation (PBM): Uses near-infrared light to boost mitochondrial energy (ATP) in brain cells, effectively “turning the lights on” in areas of the brain that have been under-functioning.

4. Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) & Gut Healing

The Vagus Nerve is the “superhighway” between the gut and the brain.

• Gut Healing: We address inflammation and microbiome imbalances that send “stress signals” to the brain.

• VNS: By stimulating the Vagus nerve, we activate the “rest and digest” system, lowering anxiety and improving emotional regulation.

A Gradual Journey to Lasting Results

Healing a brain is like growing a garden; it requires the right environment, the right nutrients, and—most importantly—time.

• The Process: You may see small shifts in sleep or eye contact within the first few weeks, but rebuilding neural pathways (myelination) is a gradual process.

• Lasting Change: Because we are working at the root cause level—physically changing how the brain processes information—the results are not temporary “behavioral masks.” They are foundational changes that last a lifetime.

You Are Not Alone

The core issue in dyslexia is often a deficit in phonological processing—the ability to identify and manipulate the sounds in spoken words. This foundational difficulty can manifest in several key areas:

At Maive Brain, we don’t just see the behavior—we see the child. These assessments are the first step in unlocking their full potential.
